Coffee Price Index Methodology
A seven-format coffee basket spanning ground coffee, whole beans, pods, instant coffee, ready-to-drink coffee, iced coffee and cold brew, and creamer. Basket totals are expressed in U.S. dollars. The index line combines the component price indexes using their basket quantity weights. The band runs from the lowest to highest selected location. The headline range compares the lowest and highest city index values on the latest observation date. Changes in the mix of observed products can also affect the index. Charts can also show lower band, medium band and upper band.
